Why did the chicken cross the road?
A Cliffhanger is used to capture your reader and guide them through, but what if you launch your reader forward without giving them any solid landing strip?
Remember that the most effective cliffhangers are multi-layered and should be followed up by a very powerful, engaging, opening.
When your reading a book, which you should always read for pleasure first, go back and look to see if you.can identify the cliffhangers the author used to carry you through to the end.

Voices of the past, present and future 
I enjoy the idea of going back over a recent read and identifying the cliffhangers! Clever cliffhangers do not stand out and so it becomes a hunt through good writing. 🙂
